Troy & Socorro Gill
2015 & 2021 Pivotal Family Ministry Launching Pads
Hi! We are Troy and Socorro Gill. We have three beautiful girls that are now teenagers and a blessing! Troy and I have learned a lot about children and homeschooling in our twenty four years of marriage and twenty years of being parents through the many trials and errors that come providentially happen in the different seasons of married life with children.
But, it’s on these grounds that the seeds of faith, prayer and determination that this ministry to families has been sown for the benefit of other new families and the glory of God.
“Consider it great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. But endurance must do its complete work, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.”
(James 1:2-3, HCSB)
Back in 2015 my husband was offered an opportunity to manage a remediation project as an environmental engineer in central New Jersey. As a homeschool family we saw the opportunity and seized it! This excursion to New Jersey would become the catalyst that placed me, Socorro, back in a position to be catapulted into my life’s mission, to share the love of Christ to families. Through the guidance and prayerful support of my husband Troy, our children and several close friends, we founded our home-based nonprofit organization to empower families from our lessons learned as homeschool parents, new business owners and through local community organizations that that offer hope for families in need of our cooperative services.
The year 2020 was a tough year for our family, as it very likely was for many around the world. Troy lost his job of 20+ years in the environmental consulting field in October of that year only to gain employment in May of 2021, and then lose it again in early August. As a result, our family dynamics were reorganized and tested. But, in the interim, God was moving in Troy and I in another area of our lives we hadn’t thought much about in a while. We’d always talked about having our own bed and breakfast, but never pulled the trigger, so to speak.
Troy was out of work and I went back to work…In the time between Troy losing his two jobs and me working my temporary, but fulltime job, God stirred in us a desire to open up our own business. We didn’t anticipate Troy being completely out of work when we started the business, but that is how God worked it out.
While all of the above was happening, I was also still homeschooling two of our three daughters. To pile on top of all of this, one of our children requested the assistance of a counselor. She was not only struggling with many issues that are related to being a teen, but we were also seeing that we, as her parents, were not going to be able to do this alone. When I started to look for counselor’s in the faith based and outside secular arenas I started noticing that she would be put on at least a one-year waitlist! I couldn’t believe it! In a time when we felt we were in desperate need, there was nobody that we felt comfortable enough to share our struggles with to turn to.
We're in the midst of recruiting qualified and passionate volunteers to help with the sewing of bibs and burp cloths, work our upcoming annual events and give of their time and finances, as the Lord leads. Are you interested?
