2020 Annual Review

Greetings from Colorado!

We hope this letter finds you in good health and surrounded by your loved ones.  When we wrote to you last in February not many people could’ve foreseen what was coming.  2020 has been a year of significant changes that have affected the whole world.  People were forced to work from home.  Parents who normally dropped their children off at school suddenly found themselves facilitating “school” in their home with little to almost no direction from shocked and confused school administrators as they struggled to figure out what school and life was going to look like in the midst of a pandemic.

Uncertainty could be 2020’s middle name, but life hasn’t stopped happening.  Individuals and families have had to adjust to the “new normal”.  The sun is still shinning behind the clouds, the moon is still making it’s rounds every month, and families are still in need of direction as they add children to their family unit or experience grieving as a result of any loss, especially if it was Covid-19 related.

In the midst of all of this we at TLC Squared have also been struggling to find some semblance of normalcy in ministry while also trying to adjust what our home looks like.  As many of you know, our family has homeschooled since our children were basically born so adjusting our “school” for Covid wasn’t a huge change.  Troy did have to work from home which caused the rest of the family to have to get used to having their dad at home more.  It’s been a blessing in disguise and mostly a positive change for all of us.

I would say the most significant change for TLC Squared Ministries is that Troy has been able to play a bigger role in ministering to families that reach out to us through the invitation in the Home Care Kits that we give to growing families.  He’s been able to manage the financial part of the ministry and keeping us on track with budgeting.

He and I are also on track with becoming “Certified Biblical Counselors” with Association of Christian Biblical Counselors (ACBC).  We’re in our second phase of at least a two-and-a-half-year process in which we have to study a certain number of approved books, watch counseling videos, and answer exam questions for theology and counseling.  All this work is to understand how to apply and show biblical truth to enlighten and empower individuals and couples to break free from destructive patterns in their lives and free them up to live the most abundant and significant life they can for God, themselves and their family.

Troy and I started our in-person training in March just before the pandemic took its toll and caused the rest of the events to go virtual, but thankfully not get cancelled.  We’ve been diligently studying and prayerfully moving forward with the original vision for this ministry which is to “Re-create Homes One Family at a Time” by sharing The Love of Christ through Teaching, Loving and Connecting families.

I am still giving out Home Care Kits and I am still blogging, though not as frequently as I would like.  The new and old blogs can still be found at www.Socorrogill.com & www.4gillgirl.wordpress.com.

It is my heart’s desire to be able to reach as many groups of people in churches, mom’s groups, and women’s events so they will be encouraged to walk faithfully and not give up.
I pray this letter has encouraged you to go out and make a difference in your community or around the world.  If you feel led to come along side me in this family ministry, please read on to see how you can do that.

Annual Ministry Budget Needs:
